escrituras
The word does not merely explain: it names, draws, summons and produces reality. Between form and thought, between what can be said and what remains unnamed, language also becomes a trace.

The Escrituras series gathers photographic records made in 2011 along the Via dell’Amore, a path that is part of the Cinque Terre, in the Liguria region, Italy. Inscriptions, names, declarations, drawings and marks left on the stone turn the landscape into a collective surface of writing.
More than documenting messages, the photographs observe the gesture of inscribing: the attempt to fix in matter what is by nature unstable — affection, memory, presence, promise. Anonymous, overlapping words cross time, lose context and authorship, but preserve the intensity of the impulse that produced them.

In Escrituras, the stone works simultaneously as support, archive and body. Language stops being only signification and comes to exist physically: scratched, engraved, erased, repeated and rewritten. What remains is not necessarily what was said, but the evidence that someone needed to say it.
